for post-earthquake emergency response
Buildings and other structures not included in
Category V, having DOD mission-essential command,
geographically separate locations, as designated by the
using agency

Power-generating stations and other utility facilities
required for primary power for Category V structures, if
emergency backup power generating facilities are not
available
Facilities involved in storage, handling, or processing

by the using agency.
Notes to Table 1, "CLASSIFICATION OF BUILDINGS AND OTHER STRUCTURES FOR
IMPORTANCE FACTORS"
a. In hurricane-prone regions with V>100 miles per hour, Iw shall be 0.77.
b. In the Optional Procedure for the Design of SUG III-A Facilities, IE = 1.0 (See IBC Section 1616.6.2).
c. A new Category and Seismic Use Group have been added to address national strategic military assets.
A Seismic Importance Factor, IE, is not required for the design of these facilities.
