Other space allocations not covered specifically in NAVFAC P-80 will
follow conventional standards, applicable codes, customary usage, and the
particularities of needs identified for each facility.
c.
Typical Space Allocations. Table 2 identifies space allocations
for two facilities shown in Facility Plates 2 and 5, pages 37.06-43 and
37.06-49. The first is a small unit with one chaplain assigned and normal
chapel capacity of 100. The second assumes three chaplains and has a principal
place of worship seating 300. NAVFAC P-80 allots 13,245 square feet (1230 m2)
plus mechanical space to the latter facility. It should be noted that because
much of the space is multi-purpose the space actually available for teaching
is higher than the table indicates.

HOSPITAL CHAPELS.
a.
Size and Use. NAVFAC P-80 prescribes the authorized size for most
hospital chapels. However, certain situations, such as regional medical
centers, are exceptions.
